We want you to help rebuild the NHS with technology that actually works. The NHS is one of the most ambitious ideas in modern society: world-class healthcare, free at the point of use. But today, it’s under pressure from rising demand, constrained resources, and systems that weren’t built for modern care. We’re here to fix that. At Healthtech-1, we’re building the technology to unlock access to healthcare, getting patients to the right appointment the first time. This isn’t about marginal gains. It’s about rebuilding critical infrastructure for millions of people.

Why this role matters

35% of NHS staff time is spent on admin. That’s the opportunity. Our first product is already used by 26% of GP practices in England, and we’re now scaling a platform that transforms how patients and clinicians interact with healthcare. As one of our Founding Product Engineers, you’ll own and shape the experiences used every day by patients and clinicians where performance, clarity, and reliability directly impact care.

What we’re looking for

  • This is for a product-minded full stack engineer who wants to move with extreme urgency and have complete autonomy.
  • You'll help build and scale our product, working across teams and directly with our customers.
  • You are operating at a senior or lead level and have 5+ years of experience, with expertise in React and TypeScript.
  • You’ve experienced a startup or scale up especially at early stage.
  • You’ve been part of a small squad of high performing engineers and you weren’t just “one of many”.
  • Care deeply about user experience, performance, and simplicity - you seek the feedback loop!
  • You constantly raise the bar for both engineering and product not just internally but in our customers' eyes.
  • Someone that thrives in autonomy, responsibility, and building things that truly matter.

Tech environment

  • Fullstack (Backend leaning): React, TypeScript (core focus)
  • APIs: Designing and consuming scalable, well-structured services
  • Data: Working with production systems and performance considerations
  • AI: Integrating modern AI models into real-world healthcare workflows
  • Experience in scaling product environments or high-stakes domains (health, finance, infra) is a strong advantage.

What success looks like

  • You ship intuitive, high-quality user experiences that clinicians and patients rely on daily.
  • You influence product direction, not just implementation.
  • You identify and solve performance and usability challenges before they become problems.
  • You become a trusted voice across engineering, product, and design.
  • The team delivers faster and better because of you.

Why this role is different

  • Here you’ll work directly with real users, not abstract requirements and you have genuine ownership over both product and technical decisions.
  • On top of that you'll:
  • Build software that redefines patient access to care.
  • Help shape not just the product….but how we build it.
  • Build technology that actually matters at national scale.
  • Solve complex, meaningful problems with real-world constraints.
  • Work in a high-performing, product-led team.
  • Have real ownership, real responsibility, and real impact.

We’re based inside a GP practice, so you can walk downstairs and see the real-world impact of your work.
