Let's make the NHS the most advanced healthcare system in the world. The world’s best healthcare, for free. It's not a new idea, it's called the NHS. But the largest healthcare provider is fundamentally broken. So we’re on a mission to fix it with technology that actually works. We love the NHS because it’s accessible to all, free at the point of delivery and employs millions up and down the UK. But we've all read the headlines. It's under intense pressure with rising costs, GP strikes, budget uncertainty and an ageing population. Which means longer wait times, fewer appointments and lower quality care for the people who need it most. The NHS is beautiful, but broken. The largest cost (£66bn+) is staff, who spend a ridiculous amount of time on mundane admin. 35% of NHS staff are employed to complete administrative work all day, every day. And that's where we're making a difference. We're focused on relentlessly automating repetitive processes within the NHS. And we’ve had great early success. Our first product, Automated Registrations, is already used by 24% of GP practices in England. With this wedge in the market, we're now building more powerful tech that unlocks access to healthcare for the entire nation.

Our Principles: Exciting challenges lie ahead—guided by our principles, we’ll meet these challenges with a thoughtful and caring approach to support our community of NHS GP practices. These values drive everything we do at Healthtech-1:

  • Simplify the complex
  • Trust in radical truth and transparency
  • Obsess over the quality of your craft
  • Be an owner
  • Be both a teacher and a student
  • Amplify others
  • Find the fun

The mission: We have an ambitious mission: to unlock access by making every appointment within the NHS transparent and bookable. Your job: turn bookable.health from new tech used by 150 innovative GPs into the national infrastructure for access. This is a role with founder-level ownership. You will work directly with Raj (co-founder) to translate the vision into clear logical, and actionable steps for engineering teams to follow.

North star: The North Star the entire company is shooting for is Weekly Appointments Booked (WAB).

What you’ll own: Our first step in building a universal appointment booking platform is by cracking open access to GP practices. To win we’ll need to balance three, sometimes contradictory, forces:

  • Supply of appointments: To become a trusted guardian of GP practice’s most precious resource — appointments. Your team will be responsible for getting access to appointments for new patients.
  • Demand for appointments: To become the access layer we’ll need to build an experience that patients love on bookable.health, whilst also integrating with other places patients visit, like the NHS app and practice websites.
  • Market acceptance: There are many organisations within the NHS that have the power to destroy innovation. They’re driven by an urge to care for the NHS in their own way. We must listen to these voices, create insight with data, and adapt the product if we find genuine concerns.

Your 30 / 60 / 90 day plan:

  • By day 30: Understand our users, read up on the NHS, spend a week as a GP practice receptionist to understand what patients want and need (all new team members do this), deep dive all our data sources and make recommendations for how we can improve what data we collect, speak with over 200+ patients that have used bookable to understand how patients experience our products, discover things about our users we don’t know yet, implement a thoughtful change to one part of the patient or NHS staff experience. Outcome: You’ve made thoughtful choices about what to improve, which will directly contribute to one of the three goals, worked with the team on shipping your first experiment, analysed the data and specced the next iteration.
  • By day 60: Aligned the team, agree strategy with Raj and Rupert for the next cycle (2 month work blocks), turn strategy into written logic for engineers to follow, run a workshop with the product team to align them on the roadmap for the next 8 weeks, spec the first few weeks worth of projects. Outcome: Product teams are aligned towards the end state.
  • By day 90: Moved the needle, work intensely with engineers to hit the goals, provide detailed specs for engineers at least 2 weeks ahead of deployment, quality assure what’s been shipped, motivate and inspire your team. Outcome: Have significantly moved at least 2 key platform metrics listed above.

Must have traits: Insights from building marketplaces: We want you to come with knowledge of what’s worked in other environments and apply them to UK healthcare. You’re exceptional with data: Not just reading and understanding, but able to audit and find errors. Fluent in Google Ads, SEO tools, analytics tools like Posthog and Metabase. You can turn vision into clear logic: You’re persuasive, and can create alignment on what needs to be built. You love speaking to patients and practices for insights: Talking to users isn’t a chore, it’s something you’re excited to do and make time for.

Required experience: 6+ years building product in a fast-moving environment, 2+ years owning marketplace metrics, fluent in analytics tools, growth tooling, experience taking something from early traction to scale.

Progression: We don’t grow people with titles. We grow people with scope. If you succeed, your ownership expands fast:

  • Phase 1: Own Bookable for GP practices end-to-end (supply, demand, trust).
  • Phase 2: Own the full patient access journey across Bookable, Registrations, and Navigation.
  • Phase 3: Shape the national access layer for the NHS across all appointment types (Pharmacy, Physio, Mental Health).

If titles matter to you, the natural path here is Senior PM → Head of Product (Access), earned purely through impact.

A bit about us: We’re all NHS staff. We’re inside-outsiders. Trusted with one of the biggest datasets in the world. Our office is within a GP practice. This is our unfair advantage. Got a question? Pop down the corridor. Want to learn how your work affects real patients? Pop downstairs to reception. We highly prioritise in-person communication and expect a minimum of 4 days in the office. Our anchor days are Mon, Tues and Fri; and our flex days are Wed or Thurs. Homemade breakfast and lunch are on the house every day when you're in the office, ensuring you're fuelled for success! We work in growth cycles. Every 8 weeks we do the same set of activities. 1 week outside of Business-as-Usual to research, strategise, plan our work. 7 weeks to knuckle down and deliver it. We’re highly collaborative. One of the benefits of a high trust team is we often work autonomously, but as a team we’re very collaborative by nature. Two heads are often better than one, and we frequently lean on each other to solve problems together. We’re backed by industry leaders. We’re on the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator, backed by the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Program, winners of the London Business School Healthtech Challenge, Innovate UK, and Y Combinator (S23).
