Let’s make the NHS the most advanced healthcare system in the world. The world’s best healthcare, for free. It’s not a new idea, it’s called the NHS. But the largest healthcare provider is fundamentally broken. So we’re on a mission to fix it with technology that actually works.
We love the NHS because it’s accessible to all, free at the point of delivery and employs millions up and down the UK. But we’ve all read the headlines. It’s under intense pressure with rising costs, GP strikes, budget uncertainty and an ageing population. Which means longer wait times, fewer appointments and lower quality care for the people who need it most. The NHS is beautiful, but broken.
The largest cost (£66bn+) is staff, who spend a ridiculous amount of time on mundane admin. 35% of NHS staff are employed to complete administrative work all day, every day. And that’s where we’re making a difference.
We’re focused on relentlessly automating repetitive processes within the NHS. Our first product, Automated Registrations, is already used by 24% of GP practices in England. With this wedge in the market, we’re now building more powerful tech that unlocks access to healthcare for the entire nation.
Our Principles
- Simplify the complex
- Trust in radical truth and transparency
- Obsess over the quality of your craft
- Be an owner
- Be both a teacher and a student
- Amplify others

The mission
We have an ambitious mission: to unlock access to healthcare by making every appointment in the NHS bookable. To reach national scale, our products must be clinically safe, evidence-backed, and trusted by every layer of the NHS — from frontline clinicians to national bodies.
We’re hiring a clinically-trained Product Manager who will operate as Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) for the company. You’ll report to Raj (co-founder), and work cross-functionally with our product teams.
Goal expectations
Our company’s North Star is 50,000 Weekly Appointments Booked (WAB) by September 2026. Your goals include:
- Achieve the medical device status required to provide AI care navigation and appointment booking within the NHS App.
- Build punchy content so ICBs / Neighbourhoods choose Healthtech-1 as their preferred supplier for care navigation.
- Evolve our product-development and incident-management processes to the highest standards.
Your 30 / 60 / 90 day plan
By day 30: Strategise
- Delivered a full gap analysis against DCB0129 and Class I/II requirements.
- Evaluated our clinical-safety across all product lines, and flagged any issues.
- Developed the medical-device strategy + implementation plan (Class I vs II).
- Reviewed and improved how we handle clinical incidents.
- Output: A strategy document approved by Raj, Lydia, Dom with clear timelines.
By day 60: Implement
- Uplifted or produced all key DCB0129 artefacts.
- Completed major parts of the technical file.
- Gathered early clinical + operational evidence for Bookable.
- Defined the post-market surveillance process and reporting cadence.
- Managed your first incident from identification to communication.
- Output: An operational clinical-safety system with evidence collection underway.
By day 90: Publish
- Achieved Class I medical-device completion (if this is the chosen pathway).
- Embedded clinical safety in product rituals.
- Finished the technical file and planned the Class II steps (if this is the chosen pathway).
- Published and marketed your first piece of evidence demonstrating the positive health outcomes of better care navigation.
- Output: Healthtech-1 is positioned as a clinically trustworthy product ready for national scale.
Scope of the role
You fully own:
- Clinical safety for all Healthtech-1 products

- Post-market surveillance and ongoing governance
- Evidence generation for NHS App integration
- Authoring academic papers, white papers, and clinical explainers for ICBs
You co-own (with product and engineering):

- Data required for safety monitoring and risk detection
- Risk mitigations that require product changes or design decisions
You influence (but do not own):
- Product roadmap
- NHS regional relationships and ICB commercial strategy
- IG, cyber security, and non-clinical compliance
You do not own:
- Day to day delivery
- Commercial targets
- Engineering resourcing or timelines
Required experience
- Medical degree and registration with the GMC or equivalent clinical background.

A bit about us
We’re all NHS staff. We’re inside-outsiders. Trusted with one of the biggest datasets in the world. Our office is within a GP practice. This is our unfair advantage.
We highly prioritise in-person communication and expect a minimum of 4 days in the office. Our anchor days are Mon, Tues and Fri; and our flex days are Wed or Thurs. Homemade breakfast and lunch are on the house every day when you’re in the office.
We work in growth cycles. Every 8 weeks we do the same set of activities. 1 week outside of Business-as-Usual to research, strategise, plan our work. 7 weeks to knuckle down and deliver it.
We’re highly collaborative. One of the benefits of a high trust team is we often work autonomously, but as a team we’re very collaborative by nature.
We’re backed by industry leaders. We’re on the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator, backed by the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Program, winners of the London Business School Healthtech Challenge, Innovate UK, and Y Combinator (S23).
An opportunity for real upside
- Paid volunteer days.
- Every 8 weeks we take a day off to socialise as a team.
- Learning budget and time.
- Health and fitness budget of £60 per month.
- Generous sick leave policy with additional days for mental health leave.
- Parental leave policy that improves over time.
- Fertility leave policy.
- Pension scheme with employer contribution.
Inclusive & Diverse by Design
We care about building a product that is loved and a culture that is rich in perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds. Our team represents more than ten different cultures. We want everyone in our team to know that they belong.
