With an amazing team of highly skilled midwives and working directly with consultant obstetricians in our 6-bed birthing suite, Newcastle Private is the next step in your career! Join our team providing labour and birthing care to over 1800 families each year in the Newcastle and surrounding region.

If your passion is working in birth suite we have roles that can support your passion, development and work life balance. You will have the opportunity to also work across the Antenatal ward, Post-natal ward and our recently renovated Special Care Nursery on a rotational basis.

We have clinical midwifery specialists and a dedicated maternity educator that will support your ongoing upskilling and ensure you have a great introduction to our unit.

Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.

We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Midwife to join our team on a full-time/part time basis. We are looking for an experienced midwife, who is committed to ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and women-centred care.

To succeed in the role as a Registered Midwife, you will need to bring a genuine interest in caring for women and their family through the various stages of pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal care. You will be an experienced midwife with excellent communication skills and enjoy working in an inclusive and vibrant environment that values and supports our diverse families.

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife
  • Current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Demonstrated experience working in a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised woman-centred care;
  • Sound clinical decision making and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Flexibility to work a seven-day roster including night duty
  • Basic computer skills

Our commitment to quality and safety for our patients, staff and visitors is our highest priority. Applicants will be required to provide a current National Police check, WWCC (where applicable) and Evidence of right to work in Australia prior to appointment. Staff in patient contact roles will be required to provide proof of immunity to specified infectious diseases as a Category A Healthcare worker.

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and NSWNMA/ANMF - NSW Nurses and Midwives\' - Enterprise Agreement 2020- 2024, a salary ranging from $35.46 - $49.79 per hour.
