We are currently looking for a Lead Pharmacist to join our Team.

- Main Responsibilities
- To act as intermediate escalation point for support and advice between Homecare Pharmacists and Superintendent Pharmacist.
- To provide operational onsite lead pharmacist support to the Site Operations Manager, Patient Support Assistant Manager, Pharmacy Support Assistant Manager, and Dispensary Assistant Managers.
- To act as senior/lead pharmacist at Health Net sites.
- To investigate and provide professional pharmacy input to complaints and incidents involving the pharmacy operation.
- To provide service and product training to the pharmacy operational team (represent the pharmacy operation at ‘Train the Trainer’ sessions).
- To be a competent homecare pharmacist able to clinically check homecare prescriptions and respond to incoming queries from patients, other Health Net staff and the NHS.
- To support the Site Operations Manager in clinical and professional matters and deputise in their absence.
- To act as the first point of contact for pharmacist advice and support to Health Net Nurses and the clinical support team.
- To know and understand all medicinal products dispensed by Health Net, including environment and storage conditions, the associated funding frameworks and service‑specific nuances.
- To be competent and familiar with the regulatory and pharmacy governance arrangements as they apply to clinical homecare services.
- To know and understand pumps, other ancillaries and devices and act at the interface between pharmacy supply and nurse or patient use.
- To respond to daily emails and telephone calls from Health Net nurses seeking advice and support in the field or during a virtual consultation.
- To respond to escalated matters from the Customer Care and Pharmacy Support Teams.
- To oversee supplies of adrenaline and associated anaphylaxis items to nurses.
- To know and understand the legal and regulatory framework in which Health Net operates and National Homecare standards and guidance for best practice.
- Represent the pharmacy operation at ‘Train the Trainer’ sessions and acquire trainer recognition/status.
- To deliver training in products and services to non‑nursing team members as required by pharmaceutical company clients and to ensure the Health Net Lead in Quality and Empower People Positively.
- To act as Tutor for those undertaking Pharmacy Services training courses at NVQ2 and NVQ3 level.
- To work with and support the Pharmacist Patient Safety Lead in addressing trends and knowledge gaps arising from monitoring of complaints and incidents.
- To lead in the set‑up and arrangements for the annual staff flu vaccination programme.
- To share in the maintenance of Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions applicable to the Pharmacy Operation.
- To support the Superintendent Pharmacist in providing professional input to operational Change Proposals.
- To run weekly cross‑site pharmacist meetings in the absence of the Superintendent Pharmacist.
- To be the first point of contact for the business in all matters relating to prescription design requiring the clinical input of a pharmacist.
- To provide pharmacy input and support in New Service Implementation and special projects.
- To ensure site readiness at all times for regulatory inspection by GPh C and other pharmacy bodies.
- To sign in and act as the Responsible Pharmacist as and when required.
- To ensure the operational software systems and equipment are used in accordance with the guidance given and tasks may include, and are not limited to, stock selection, loading, sortation of orders and packing of orders of the automated dispensing system.
What experience and skills are we looking for?
- Knowledge and previous experience working in Clinical Homecare.
- Previous experience working with other Healthcare Professionals.
- Previous role(s) requiring the balancing of professional standards and business demands.
- Experience in providing additional services such as Patient Group Directions.
- Experience of providing servixes at a distance.
Qualifications
- Pharmacist Registered with the GPh C with at least 2 years post‑qualification experience (essential).
- Postgraduate qualification in leadership, management, or training (desirable).
