We are seeking compassionate and reliable Support Workers to join our team in a supported living setting in Thornbury, providing high-quality, person-centred support to adults with a range of health and support needs. The individuals you will support may have learning disabilities, Down syndrome, epilepsy, type 2 diabetes, and hearing impairments. This role is suited to someone who is patient, attentive, and committed to promoting independence and wellbeing.

Role Responsibilities

  • Providing person-centred support, respecting each individual’s independence, choices, and boundaries
  • Communicating clearly and patiently, adapting communication to meet individual needs
  • Supporting adults with daily living routines, including medication administration and making healthy meal choices
  • Encouraging and assisting with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation, promoting independence wherever possible
  • Monitoring and supporting diabetes and epilepsy, following care plans and risk assessments
  • Encouraging social engagement and participation in community activities
  • Remaining calm and supportive during times of distress, giving space when required and using reassurance and positive reinforcement
  • Maintaining accurate records and working collaboratively with the wider care and management team

Shift Pattern

  • 24-hour shifts, starting at 10:30am and finishing at 10:30am the following day
  • Sleep-in period from 11:00pm–7:00am, paid at waking night rate
  • Weekend availability is essential

Pay Rates

  • Starting from £12.21 per hour
  • Pay increases in line with experience and relevant qualifications (Level 2 / Level 3)
  • £0.50 per hour enhancement for weekend hours

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence essential
  • Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, diabetes, epilepsy, or hearing impairments is desirable but not essential
  • Applicants with no previous experience are welcome
  • Full training and ongoing support provided
