Purpose of the Job:
As a Support Worker, you will support and enable individuals with disabilities to live their lives their way, creating opportunities and encouraging participation in service provision. This will involve working as part of a team within a flexible rota to include weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in duties.
Main Duties:
- Provide practical support to enable people to live independently β budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking meals.
- Assist with individual health needs and personal care β attending health appointments, giving assistance with medication, helping individuals to get ready for the day bathing, showering, and using the bathroom.
- Provide emotional support to individuals in a sensitive manner with empathy and using active listening. Offering advice and guidance enabling individuals to make informed decisions and exercise their rights.
- Encourage and empower individuals to express their opinions and share their views in all aspects of decision-making, both at individual and organisational level.
- Maintain accurate records, i.e. the supported personβs personal information and records, house records, communication books, diaries, food and records of expenditure.
- Administer, supervise and maintain accurate records relating to all medication administered to individuals in accordance with Driveβs policy and procedure.
