  • ABOUT LAYOLA CARE

Layola Care Ltd is an established and growing domiciliary and community care provider supporting adults and children with a broad range of complex, clinical, physical, neurological, developmental and behavioural needs.

Our services include individually designed care packages, delegated healthcare interventions, personal care, social support, respite, overnight support and end-of-life care.

We work closely with individuals, families, commissioners, Continuing Healthcare teams, local authorities and multidisciplinary professionals to provide safe, consistent and genuinely person-centred care.

We are now seeking an experienced and committed Registered Manager Designate to lead our Complex Care and Children’s Services portfolio.

REGISTERED MANAGER DESIGNATE ARRANGEMENT

The successful candidate will initially join Layola Care as Registered Manager Designate.

This will provide time to

  • Complete a structured induction
  • Understand Layola’s systems, policies and governance arrangements
  • Meet the adults, children and families within the portfolio
  • Become familiar with individual care packages and clinical requirements
  • Build relationships with the staff and wider management team
  • Review care plans, risk assessments, competencies and quality systems
  • Prepare for the CQC application and Registered Manager interview
  • Complete a planned and supported handover

The CQC application process will begin as early as reasonably possible.

Our intention is to secure registration before Christmas 2026, although the final assessment and approval timescale will be determined by CQC and cannot be guaranteed.

Until registration is formally approved, the successful candidate will work as Registered Manager Designate under the oversight of Layola Care’s existing Registered Manager and Nominated Individual.

THE MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

Layola Care is moving to a dual Registered Manager structure to provide focused and accountable leadership across its service areas.

Following successful CQC registration, the successful candidate will hold day-to-day responsibility for:

  • Complex adult care
  • Children’s community care
  • Specialist and clinically delegated care packages
  • The staff and management systems supporting these services

A second Registered Manager will separately oversee Domiciliary and Palliative Care.

Both Registered Managers will work collaboratively under the strategic oversight of Layola Care’s Nominated Individual and Directors.

Each manager will have clearly defined responsibilities, staff teams, delegated authority and lines of accountability.

CURRENT PORTFOLIO

The current portfolio consists of approximately

  • Five adults receiving complex care
  • Ten children receiving community-based care and support

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the quality and stability of these services while supporting safe and sustainable growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will

  • Provide day-to-day leadership of Complex Care and Children’s Services.
  • Complete the required CQC Registered Manager application and interview process.
  • Maintain compliance with CQC requirements, relevant legislation and organisational policies.
  • Ensure services are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
  • Oversee referrals, assessments, care planning, risk assessments, service commencement and reviews.
  • Ensure clinical and delegated healthcare interventions are supported by clear instructions, appropriate training, competency assessment and ongoing monitoring.
  • Work closely with Layola’s nursing, training, compliance and care assessment teams.
  • Maintain effective relationships with CHC professionals, local authorities, commissioners, social workers, healthcare professionals, schools and families.
  • Lead, supervise and support staff working within the complex and children’s portfolios.
  • Ensure staff are matched safely according to individual needs, experience, training and assessed competencies.
  • Oversee staffing capacity, rota safety, continuity of care and contingency arrangements.
  • Manage safeguarding concerns, incidents, complaints, medication concerns, clinical escalations and lessons learned.
  • Ensure children’s services reflect each child’s voice, development, communication needs, family circumstances and desired outcomes.
  • Ensure adult services promote choice, independence, dignity, consent and individual decision-making.
  • Monitor quality through audits, observations, spot checks, feedback, action plans and performance measures.
  • Ensure records are accurate, current and capable of evidencing safe care.
  • Lead service improvements where concerns, shortfalls or emerging risks are identified.
  • Support the safe mobilisation of new care packages.
  • Support appropriate and sustainable growth across the portfolio.
  • Provide regular quality, performance and risk reports to the Nominated Individual and Directors.
  • Work collaboratively with the Registered Manager responsible for Domiciliary and Palliative Care.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who

  • Has strong management experience within complex domiciliary care, children’s community care or a comparable regulated service.
  • Has previous experience as a Registered Manager, Care Manager, Deputy Manager or senior operational leader.
  • Has a strong understanding of CQC requirements and the responsibilities attached to Registered Manager status.
  • Understands clinical governance, delegated healthcare interventions and competency-based practice.
  • Has experience supporting people with a broad range of complex and specialist needs.
  • Understands both adult and children’s safeguarding requirements.
  • Can work confidently with families, commissioners and multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Can lead staff effectively while maintaining professional accountability and clear boundaries.
  • Can manage competing priorities, make sound decisions and escalate significant risks appropriately.
  • Has experience investigating incidents, complaints, safeguarding concerns and quality issues.
  • Holds, or is working towards, a relevant Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management.
  • Is willing and suitable to complete the CQC Registered Manager application and interview.
  • Can demonstrate the capacity to lead an established portfolio while supporting safe future growth.
  • SALARY AND DEVELOPMENT

The salary for this role is £38,000–£42,000 per annum.

The agreed salary will apply from the successful candidate’s employment start date while working as Registered Manager Designate.

The starting salary will be determined by

  • Previous management experience
  • Existing Registered Manager status
  • Complex-care and children’s-service experience
  • Qualifications and professional development
  • Knowledge of CQC requirements
  • Ability to operate independently within the role
  • The salary will be formally reviewed after six months in post, taking account of:
  • Successful CQC registration
  • Performance against agreed objectives
  • Quality and compliance outcomes
  • Leadership of the service and staff team
  • The size and development of the portfolio
  • The level of independent responsibility demonstrated

A six-month review does not guarantee an automatic salary increase.

Any increase will depend on performance, portfolio development and business requirements and will be confirmed separately in writing.

CONDITION OF APPOINTMENT

Successful completion of the CQC registration process, including the Registered Manager interview and formal approval by CQC, is an essential condition of appointment and continued employment in the Registered Manager position.

The successful candidate will be required to cooperate fully with the application process, attend the CQC interview and demonstrate that they meet the requirements for registration.

If registration is not approved or cannot be maintained, Layola Care will review the circumstances and follow the appropriate capability and employment process.
