The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Reports to Registered Manager (RM). Part time, 24 hours.

Summary of Role

  • In the absence of the RM, to be responsible for the day to day management and administration of the Home.
  • To be committed to continuous improvement to ensure services enhance the quality of life for people receiving care and support.
  • Together with the RM, develop the service to the highest possible standard in line with legislation and best practice.
  • To have a flexible working attitude and be willing to assist in all areas of the home where needed.
  • To cover for the RM when on holiday (Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours).
  • To have a good understanding of Duty of Candour.
  • Role is 24 hours per week (3 shifts of 8 hours) and on call alternate weekends.

Key Accountabilities

  • Working with the RM
  • Maintain effective working relationships and confidentiality.
  • Ensure that reporting is always transparent and timely.
  • As appropriate, monitor and advise on the composition of the staffing team to ensure best practice is maintained.
  • Relationship Management
    • To work effectively with other professional colleagues to ensure the residents' best interests are identified and plans established to meet them.
    • To demonstrate an understanding of the need to be proactive in building and sustaining relationships with all key stakeholders relevant to Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society e.g. customers, relatives, community, staff, management, peers, other professionals and suppliers.
    • To act at all times as an ambassador for the Home.
    • To demonstrate self-awareness and an understanding of the impact of personal style on others.
    • To support the RM in stimulating a culture of learning and continuous improvement with appropriate leadership and delegation.
    • Have influence and credibility through the ability to communicate clearly and build relationships within the staff team.
  • Operational Management
    • Ensure that compliance with legislation, regulatory bodies and the Society’s policies and procedures is achieved within the Home and that all legislative reporting requirements are met.
  • Leadership of Staff
    • Have a strong drive to succeed.
    • Display an evident commitment to continuing professional development for self and others.
    • To assist the RM in managing changes in the workplace.
    • Ensure that each member of staff receives regular Support and Supervision meetings in accordance with the Society’s policy.
    • Ensure day to day supervision of all staff as required.
    • Contribute to individual staff development by way of their supervision and identify priority training needs.
    • Work with the RM in managing a shift rota system, ensuring the most effective use of staff to the benefit of the residents and the Home.
    • Ensure that staff are familiar with the professional, procedural, administrative and financial aspects of the Home (as appropriate to their level) to ensure compliance with the Investors in People standards.
  • Care of Residents
    • To promote service quality.
    • Promote and maintain a high-quality service in line with statutory requirements and the Society’s policies and procedures and ensure that all staff are familiar with and adhere to these requirements and guidelines.
    • Create and maintain an environment which has the capacity to respond to the residents' individual needs and promote Person Centred Care.
    • Actively promote and maintain a close working partnership with families and other significant people in the lives of residents in order to promote their best interests.
    • Ensure that staff have input, are familiar with, and adhere to care plans as agreed with/for residents.
    • Ensure that all staff are aware of the concept of Person Centred Care and adopt appropriate working practices to facilitate this.
  • Site Management
    • Ensure that all Health and Safety legislation and the Society’s policies and procedures are met within the Home.
    • Together with the RM, ensure that the Home is maintained in good repair and implement a pre-agreed maintenance plan within budget.
    • Be responsible for the maintenance of such statutory records as may be legislatively required e.g. accident book, fire equipment test log etc.
