Hours of Work: As per staff duty rota and be flexible to work in line with the needs required of the home.
Responsible to: Senior Carer, Deputy Manager, Manager and Owners.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Attend to personal needs of a resident at a level determined by the resident's physical and mental abilities, respecting their dignity and promoting their independence. Each resident's specific capabilities and requirements are detailed in their personal Care Plan. The Care Plan is the key document associated with residents' individual needs and as such, all staff are responsible for the ongoing maintenance of Care Plan entries and should remain current with the contents therein.
- To undertake additional tasks to complement a resident's wellbeing. This includes:
- Sluicing soiled linen/clothing and washing/drying of same.
- Serving meals and drinks (including food preparation when necessary).
- Cleaning resident's handbags, shoes and spectacles.
- Care of linen & clothing including mending, labelling and buttoning.
- Tidying drawers and wardrobes.
- Emptying and cleaning commodes.
- Wiping tables and cleaning the dining area floors after meals.
- Making beds and cleaning/tidying bedrooms including sinks.
- Keeping common areas clean and tidy following cleaning schedules.
12‐hour shifts which includes alternate weekends - 36 hours contract - 7am to 7pm.
Personal needs include:
- Toileting / Bathing / Dressing
- Washing / Shaving / Hair Washing
- Denture Cleaning / Exercising / Walking
- Feeding / Attending to incontinence / First Aid
- Assist in/out of bed / Manicure / Caring for sick residents
- Caring for residents who are/have died
Additional Tasks:
- Answering call bells.
- Answering the telephone and recording messages.
- Reporting equipment/furniture defects and all accidents.
- Participating in a resident's review.
- Planning and participating in residents' social activities.
- Attend staff meetings and training.
- Reading and writing reports and ensuring all documents including daily records are kept up to date.
- It is your responsibility to read the Policy and Procedures manual annually.
- You must apply and adhere to all Infection Control policy and procedures within the workplace.
- You must follow the Health & Safety Policy and Procedures, always be mindful of Health, Safety and Security of Self, Residents and the environment.
- You must attend mandatory training courses, on/off site as and when required.
- Such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.
