Full time Lead Cook required for our Ridgway Court Care home in Farnham. You must have at least two year’s professional cooking experience and one year’s kitchen management experience to be considered for this position. Pay £14.46 per hour plus £1.85 weekend enhancement. Shift Times Early - 8:00am - 2:00pm, Late 2:30pm - 7:00pm. 32.5 hours per week. You will be required to work a mix of early and late shifts and you must be available to work alternate weekends.
Purpose of the Job
- The preparation of all meals and other refreshments.
- To liaise with residents with regard to dietary requirements and choice.
- To ensure meals are prepared ready for service and served at correct temperature to the residents at the appropriate time.
- To ensure that an adequate stock of catering and kitchen supplies are maintained.
- To ensure that standards of hygiene are maintained to meet the requirements of the Environmental Health Officer.
Responsibilities
- Plan menus in line with both resident’s requirements and budgetary provisions. Menus to be varied.
- To liaise with Registered Manager devising menus to incorporate individual special needs, festive occasions and birthdays.
- To store cooked foods, raw foods and frozen foods in accordance to HACCP and use a labelling system.
- To oversee the day to day running of the kitchen.
- To ensure that kitchen surfaces, floor areas and cupboards are cleaned at the end of every shift in line with DGH standards.
- Manage own provisions including ordering, issuing and stock control.
- Supervise kitchen staff and check cleaning rotas are adhered to and recorded.
- To ensure that staff on duty that are entitled to a meal are given a choice and receive one.
- Ensure compliance with legislation associated with food safety and food hygiene, including maintenance of appropriate level of cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Liaise with Registered Manager to cover annual leave/sickness.
- To attend annual appraisal.
- To train all staff in line with H&S requirements.
- Carry out kitchen staff supervisions when necessary.
- Attend staff training.
- To promote anti-discriminative practice through the delivery of service regardless of a resident’s beliefs, gender, race, age health, disability or religious beliefs.
- To contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
- Other tasks may be allocated from time to time to ensure the requirements of the Resident’s and house are met.
