Barchester Healthcare has a fantastic opportunity for a Capital Accountant to join our Finance team and work closely alongside our existing Capital Accountant. Together, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, timely and insightful financial information relating to our Group capital expenditure. This is a collaborative role where you'll partner to manage our CapEx processes, maintain strong financial controls, and support major capital projects across the organisation.
About the Role
As part of a small, specialist capital finance function, you will share responsibility for the co-ordination and control of capital expenditure reporting. Working side-by-side with the current Capital Accountant, you'll ensure the smooth running of the CapEx approval process, maintain the Fixed Asset Registers, and support the financial management of new developments and major projects. You'll also contribute to weekly and monthly reporting for operational teams, statutory reporting, and work jointly on preparing information for external auditors, tax teams and senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Barchester CapEx approval system and support the Capital Team
- Maintain strong financial controls for capital expenditure payments
- Manage the Group Fixed Asset Registers, including disposals and motor vehicle capitalisation
- Prepare Fixed Assetids and fixed asset disclosures for statutory accounts
- Provide financial management for major capital projects and new developments
- Oversee the preparation of Group capital budgets
- Produce weekly capital budget reports and monthly Capital & Development Reports
- Chair or support CapEx Committee meetings
- Liaise with external auditors, tax teams, and complete National Statistics Returns
