At Walfinch Eastbourne, we believe great home care should help people live well, stay connected, remain independent and thrive — not simply get through the day. We are looking for a compassionate and reliable female Community Care Worker who shares our approach to person-centred care and enjoys making a genuine difference to people's everyday lives. Due to the personal care requirements and preferences of some of our clients, this position is for a female care worker. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as the role involves travelling between clients across Eastbourne and surrounding areas.
What will you be doing? You'll support adults in their own homes, helping them remain safe, independent, confident and connected to the things that matter to them. Your role may include:
- Providing personal care with dignity, kindness and respect
- Supporting with washing, dressing, continence care and daily routines
- Providing genuine companionship and meaningful conversation
- Supporting mobility and encouraging gentle activity, such as walks, chair exercises or gardening
- Accompanying clients to appointments, shopping, coffee outings and community activities
- Encouraging independence rather than simply doing everything for the client
- Supporting clients to maintain hobbies, interests and social connections
- Preparing light meals and supporting good nutrition and hydration
- Providing light household support
- Observing changes in a client's health, mobility, mood or wellbeing and reporting concerns appropriately
- Completing accurate care records and communicating effectively with the wider care team
Every visit should be about the individual. We want our carers to think beyond the care task and ask: “What can I do today to help this person feel happier, more confident and independent?”
Who are we looking for? We're looking for someone who is naturally kind, patient, dependable and positive. You should:
- Be female, due to the personal care needs and preferences of our clients
- Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle
- Be compassionate, respectful and genuinely interested in helping others
- Be reliable and punctual
- Have excellent communication and listening skills
- Be comfortable providing personal care
- Enjoy spending time with people and building genuine relationships
- Be willing to encourage activity, independence and community engagement
- Be observant and confident reporting changes or concerns
- Respect clients' privacy, dignity, choices and confidentiality
- Be comfortable working independently in clients' homes
- Be willing to learn and complete all required training
- Have the right to work in the UK
Previous care experience is welcome but not essential. What matters most to us is your attitude, values and commitment to providing excellent care. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Why join Walfinch Eastbourne? We want our carers to feel valued, supported and proud of the work they do. We offer:
- Flexible working
- Paid training and ongoing development
- Company pension
- Employee mentoring programme
- Sick pay
- Company and community events
- A supportive and approachable local management team
- Opportunities to build meaningful relationships with regular clients
- Opportunities to participate in initiatives such as Thrive Club, coffee mornings and community wellbeing events
- A role focused on quality, dignity and meaningful care rather than simply ticking boxes
Our promise to you: We believe great care starts with caring for our team. You'll be respected, listened to and supported because when our carers thrive, our clients benefit too.
