About the Role

We are looking to create a hybrid role which includes an element of adult Domiciliary Care Work, whilst developing a home-grown Social Care Manager. The reason for wanting to create a hybrid career pathway of this type is due to previous experiences with qualified staff who can’t deliver in the role on a day to day practical basis and often have a lack of competency. Therefore, we concluded the best option is to create our own highly trained, highly competent Social Care Manager.

We discussed our experiences and challenges with Social Care Wales (SCW) to create an Apprenticeship career pathway based on the Induction framework for health and social care specifically developed to create the right skilled workforce to work in the care sector and care workers and more senior roles. This would include progression through formal qualifications such as City and Guilds Level 3 Health and Social Care: Practice (Adults) qualification, City and Guilds Level 4 Professional Practice in Health and Social Care and City and Guilds Level 5 Professional Practice in Health and Social Care. The starting point would depend on your current level of qualification and would run over an expected 3 or 4 year period. A genuine desire to care for others is essential.
