Registered Manager Summary of role: To assist the Registered Manager in the responsibility of the maintenance of registration standards. In the absence of the Registered Manager, to be responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the Home. To be committed to continuous improvement to ensure services enhance the quality of life for people receiving care and support. Together with the Registered Manager, develop the service to the highest possible standard in line with legislation and best practice.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain effective working relationships and confidentiality.
- Ensure that reporting is always transparent and timely.
- Monitor and advise on the composition of the staffing team to ensure best practice is maintained.
Relationship Management:
- Work effectively with other professional colleagues to ensure the residents' best interests are identified and plans established to meet them.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the need to be proactive in building and sustaining relationships with all key stakeholders relevant to Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society – customers, relatives, community, staff, management, peers, other professionals, suppliers.
- Act at all times as an ambassador for the Home.
- Provide clarity and direction, supervision and support in managing individuals.
- Support the Registered Manager in stimulating a culture of learning and continuous improvement with appropriate leadership and delegation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the value of team development.
- Communicate clearly and build relationships within the staff team.
Operational Management:
- Fulfil the role of the Deputy Manager for the Society’s care home in accordance with the requirements of the Care Quality Commission.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulatory bodies and the Society’s policies and procedures.
Leadership of staff:
- Develop the necessary skills to lead by example to inspire, motivate and empower others.
- Display a commitment to continuing professional development for self and others.
- Assist the Registered Manager in managing change in the workplace.
- Ensure that each member of staff receives regular Support and Supervision meetings.
- Contribute to individual staff development by way of their supervision and identify priority training needs.
- Plan and implement training programmes which fulfil the training needs of the staff and CQC.
- Promote and maintain the appraisal process for individual staff members.
- Oversee a shift rota system, ensuring the most effective use of staff.
Care of Residents:
- Be proactive in understanding the needs of the resident and their expectations.
- Promote service quality and maintain a high-quality service in line with statutory requirements.
- Create and maintain an environment which has the capacity to respond to the Residents' individual needs.
- Actively promote and maintain a close working partnership with families and other significant people in the lives of Residents.
Site Management:
- Be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day management.
- Ensure that all Health and Safety legislation and the Society’s policies and procedures are met.
- Ensure that the Home is maintained in good repair.
Resource Management:
- Assist the Registered Manager to plan, organise and manage resources efficiently.
- Participate in reviewing progress against the business/operational plans.
- Set objectives and analyse risks for the purpose of assisting in achieving the business and operational plans.
Administrative Duties:
- Be responsible for the development and maintenance of suitable record-keeping systems.
- Produce data, statistics and reports relating to the role and activities of the Home.
Other:
- Promote, maintain and evaluate the Home's service delivery.
- Manage time effectively.
- Actively promote the concepts of equality, diversity and human rights.
- Remain up to date with current legislation and ensure that staff are familiar with these.
Requirements:
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
- Deputy Manager Experience.
- Must live within a 10-mile radius of Farnham.
