What you will do:
- Perform specialist microbiology laboratory investigations.
- Process, analyse, and interpret microbiology specimens proficiently.
- Validate and report laboratory results for accurate diagnosis and monitoring.
- Support the diagnosis and monitoring of infectious diseases.
- Operate and maintain microbiology laboratory equipment effectively.
- Participate actively in quality control and assurance procedures.
- Ensure compliance with advanced laboratory protocols and standards.
- Maintain accurate and thorough laboratory records and documentation.
- Support the delivery of an efficient clinical microbiology service.
- Work collaboratively with pathology and clinical teams to enhance service delivery.
Requirements:
- Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent with HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
- Specialist experience in microbiology.
- Proven experience working within NHS microbiology laboratories.
- Ability to independently process and analyse microbiology samples.
- Experience validating and reporting detailed laboratory results.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance procedures for maintaining high standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Previous experience as a Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist.
- Experience within Clinical Pathology services.
- Experience supporting service development and audit activities.
