Occupational Therapist - Adults and Children Team in Barking, London

Salary: Up to £38.00 per hour

Duration: 3 Months

What you will do:

  • Undertake person-centred Occupational Therapy assessments as per the Care Act 2014.
  • Assess the needs, risks, and outcomes for adults and children with disabilities.
  • Complete moving and handling risk assessments and recommend specialist equipment, adaptations, care technology, and reablement interventions.
  • Support service users and carers to maximise independence and wellbeing.
  • Carry out major adaptation assessments and provide specifications and recommendations.
  • Produce comprehensive Occupational Therapy reports and clinical documentation.
  • Lead and contribute to multidisciplinary assessments and case conferences.
  • Manage and progress a complex caseload within agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with health, housing, social care, voluntary and private sector agencies.
  • Provide advice, guidance and supervision to unqualified staff, newly qualified OTs, and students.
  • Participate in safeguarding investigations and duty functions as required.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Extensive experience in Occupational Therapy across adult and paediatric social care settings.
  • Experience in assessing for specialist equipment and adaptations.
  • Proficiency in undertaking moving and handling assessments.
  • Knowledge of reablement pathways, assistive technology, the Care Act 2014, and the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Experience in managing complex caseloads and strong report-writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with external agencies and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of GDPR and electronic case management systems.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet service deadlines.
  • Experience within a local authority Occupational Therapy service.
  • Experience in supervising students or junior staff.
  • Experience in completing major adaptation assessments.
  • Experience working within integrated health and social care teams.
