Practice Manager

Cardiff

GP surgery located in the heart of Cardiff, caring for a patient list of around 6,500. We are seeking an organised, proactive, and personable Practice Manager to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of our practice.

The successful candidate will work closely with our GPs, nurse, and admin team to ensure operations run efficiently, patients receive excellent service, and compliance standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate daily operations of the practice
  • Oversee administrative processes, including scheduling, billing, and record-keeping
  • Lead and support the practice team, including recruitment, training, and appraisals
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and quality standards
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and service quality
  • Handle patient enquiries and resolve issues promptly and professionally
  • Manage and process claims

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a management or senior administrative role (healthcare experience desirable but not essential)
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and practice management software (or ability to learn quickly)
  • Understanding of compliance and data protection requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

Desirable Skills

  • Ability to speak Welsh
  • Experience with EMIS/Optum clinical system
  • Experience with IRIS GP payroll system
  • Previous experience working in a GP practice

A small, friendly, and supportive team consisting of two GPs, one nurse, and four reception/admin staff.
