Overview
Urgent Care Assistant – Keynsham (Out of hours, part-time, Up to £16.48/hr)
As a result of continued growth, HealthHero are seeking to recruit one Urgent Care Assistant to undertake driving, receptionist and base duties to support the delivery of Integrated Urgent Care services across Wiltshire, Swindon and Bath and North East Somerset on a part-time, permanent basis. Our shift patterns are varied, inclusive of weekday evenings, weekend work and a commitment to working some overnight sessions. Shift patterns and rota flexibility can be discussed at the application stage.
Our Urgent Care service operates 24/7 across the South West locality with bases in Chippenham, Keynsham, Salisbury and Swindon. If successful your rota may include a variety of the hours listed below. Overnight work will be required as part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Driving: Drive Clinicians to patients’ homes in a safe and legal manner, perform basic vehicle checks at shift start/end, and accurately record medications and consumables used.
- Base: Be the first point of contact for patients or carers in designated Treatment Centres; support Clinicians on shift; communicate with patients in person and by phone; keep Treatment Centre clean and orderly.
- Medication and Stock Management: Use computer systems to maintain stock levels of medications and consumables; replenish car stock at end of shift; manage stock rotation and expiry dates on weekly deliveries.
What you will do
- Work across shifts including Monday–Friday evenings (18:15/18:30–23:00), overnights (23:00–08:00), and weekend/overnight blocks (AM/PM/Evening or Overnight).
- Undertake non-clinical support to clinicians and patients using NHS 111 and GP Out of Hours services.
- Be flexible to occasional duties outside contracted hours to support operational needs.
About You
- Well organized, hardworking and personable; able to join an established, close-knit team.
- Confident interaction with patients, relatives and carers; compassionate, detail-oriented and professional under pressure.
- Strong administration skills; able to work calmly in emergency or stressful situations.
- Full UK Driving Licence (with no more than 6 penalty points) and good driving experience.
- Willingness to undergo a driver’s medical if successful at interview.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence with up to 6 penalty points.
- Ability to undertake reception, driving and non-clinical support duties as part of the Integrated Urgent Care service.
- DBS check will be required (Enhanced DBS applied for by HealthHero on appointment).
