Primary Care Centre Assistant (PCCA) - Minimum hours Contract STW (Non-clinical) in Telford

As a result of continued growth, HealthHero are seeking to recruit a Primary Care Centre Assistant (PCCA) to undertake driving, receptionist and base duties to support the delivery of Integrated Urgent Care services across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin on a minimum hours contract. Working on a minimum hours basis offers the ability to work flexibly, choosing shifts available based on our evolving operational need. Whilst there is a 2 shift per month minimum commitment, you will be able to opt in to a greater number of shifts up to a maximum of 37.5 hours/week. Kindly note that the minimum hours contract is offered on a 12-month time-bound basis, with the potential for renewal subject to operational needs.

About the role: As a Primary Care Centre Assistant (PCCA), you will be required to undertake a dual role of driving and reception work to support the efficient operation of Integrated Urgent Care services across the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin locality. We operate a 24/7, 365 days a year service, on a rolling 4-week rota pattern to be agreed following a successful interview, providing care to our service users. The role will involve non-clinical support to clinicians and patients who use the NHS 111 and GP Out of Hours service. A degree of flexibility will be required, and there may be the occasional opportunity to work outside of your contracted hours to facilitate the smooth operational running of the service.

Your key duties:

• Driving: Driving Clinicians to the patient's home in a safe and legal manner – adhering to current driving regulations. Perform basic vehicle checks at the beginning and end of shifts – ensuring they are roadworthy, fuelled and fully equipped. Accurate recording of all medications and consumables used while on shift.
• Base: To be the first point of contact for the patient or carer/relative in our designated Treatment Centres. Supporting Clinicians while you are on shift. Communicating with patients both in person and via the telephone (comfort & welfare checks). Ensure the Treatment Centre is kept clean and tidy.
• Medication and Stock Management: Using a variety of computer systems to accurately maintain stock levels of medication and consumables. Replenishing car stock at the end of your shift. Understand stock rotation and expiry dates on weekly delivery of medications and consumables.

Full Training will be provided. The Primary Care Centre Assistant role is varied and requires a flexible and resilient approach. You will be expected to undertake a broad range of duties, including periods of prolonged sitting (for example, at a reception desk or in a vehicle), alongside more physically demanding tasks such as moving and carrying emergency equipment and delivering CPR at floor level when required. As part of the role, you must be comfortable working in both clinical and mobile environments, responding to the needs of the service as they arise. Please note that all successful candidates will be required to undertake and pass a driver’s medical in line with role requirements.

You will be required to confidently interact with patients, relatives and carers, demonstrate compassion and respect, possess excellent attention to detail, have strong administration skills, be personable, engaging and reassuring, and work confidently under pressure and act professionally in emergency or sometimes stressful situations. Please note a full UK Driving License (with no more than 6 registered penalty points) is essential for this role and you should possess a good level of driving experience.
