- Prioritize care, apply critical thinking, and coordinate care in a fast‑paced environment; perform triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation per guidelines
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure quality outcomes, coordinate transfers, discharges, referrals, and address spiritual/psychosocial needs
- Identify barriers to effective communication and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances
- Effectively delegate patient care to ancillary personnel; may precept student nurses and new hires
- Practice according to professional and ethical standards per the ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado State Nurse Practice Act; maintain patient confidentiality and participate in performance improvement activities
- Current and active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC); STABLE; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); or obtain within specified timeframes: BLS within 90 days of hire; ACLS within 6 months; PALS/ENPC, TNCC, STABLE, and NRP within 1 year
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field; preferred)
- Two (2) years hospital nursing experience; one (1) year Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care Nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work in a hospital/short-term acute care setting; must pass background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and Employee Health review prior to starting
