We are a growing group of companies operating across multiple sectors, with an ambitious and fast-paced finance function that supports a number of businesses. We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career within a supportive environment, gaining exposure to a broad range of finance activities.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Officer you will provide day-to-day support across a variety of accounting functions, helping to ensure the smooth running of the finance department. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Processing supplier invoices and maintaining purchase ledger records
  • Preparing supplier payment runs
  • Credit control and debtor management
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with sales ledger administration
  • Processing employee expenses
  • Resolving supplier and customer account queries
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Assisting with month-end procedures, including reconciliations and journals
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts
  • Providing general administrative support to the finance team
  • Assisting with ad-hoc finance projects as required

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working in a finance or accounts environment
  • Possess strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Have good communication skills and be comfortable dealing with colleagues, customers and suppliers
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Be able to prioritise workload and work to deadlines
  • Demonstrate a positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn
  • AAT qualification (or currently studying towards AAT)
  • Experience using accounting software such as Sage 50 & Xero
