Please note this role is Hybrid 3 days in office or based fulltime on site in Guildford Surrey/Community hospital.
Main duties of the job:- To support the education and professional development of clinical and non-clinical staff across RSHFT and Community hospitals where appropriate in relation to manual handling.
- Coordinate and assist in the delivery of manual handling training programmes for the Trust as detailed:
- Moving and handling Level 1
- Moving and handling Level 2
- Moving and Handling Level 3
- Provide specialist advice to clinicians within sphere of competence regarding manual handling.
- Co-ordinate and deliver effective and engaging manual handling training and contribute to the development of new training materials and courses.
- Attend the South Back Care exchange meetings and be responsible for disseminating and implementing any pertinent information if this affects manual handling within the trust (including Community sites).
- Provide support to staff regarding non-complex manual handling cases and understand the process of how to access the MH Lead for complex cases.
- Coordinate and deliver bespoke manual handling training within specialist manual handling fields such as paediatric and specialist dentistry.
- Ensure lifting equipment is serviced as required in line with LOLER regulations and other equipment is fit for purpose and safe.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:- Meet with the MH Lead and Health and Safety team to ensure routes of clear communication.
- Network with other manual handling teams and internal and external stakeholders within the region to share knowledge.
- Effectively and competently provide advice, instruction or training to groups, appropriately tailoring to individual and differing needs.
- Keep accurate training records, ensuring that these are disseminated to the statutory and mandatory training administration team.
- Instigate and participate in audits on training as required, writing concise and robust training reports with support from the Manual Handling Lead.
- Keep fully up to date with health and safety legislation, directives, policies and procedures and be compliant with statutory and mandatory training requirements.
- Provide advice within the scope and sphere of their profession and speciality.
- Respond to the investigation of Datix incident under the direction of Manual Handling Lead providing re-education and TILEE guidance.
- Evaluate the standard of manual handling training to ensure a consistent approach is achieved and that continuous improvements take place in line with changes in research and national guidelines.
- Coordinate and contribute to the development of a range of clinical manual handling training programmes for staff, setting up venues for both classrooms and in-situ training.
- Contribute to the development of guidelines, Standard operating procedure/protocols and competencies for practice.
- Teaching qualification AET level 3 or above or experience working in a teaching capacity.
- Experienced in working in a care environment providing physical assistance to a variety of clients.
- Sound clinical knowledge underpinned by evidence of theoretical understanding in patient moving and handling equipment, manual handling and individual needs.
- Sound understanding of risk assessment and delegation principles.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Experience of teaching to a multidisciplinary workforce.
