If so, this is your opportunity to join our integrated Adaptations Service as an Adaptations Therapist. This is a career-graded role with clear progression routes from Level 1 (Grade 7) through Level 3 (Grade 9). Whether you’re starting out or already qualified, we’ll support you to grow and succeed.

What You’ll Do

  • Carry out holistic functional and environmental assessments in service users’ homes.
  • Recommend and arrange major and minor adaptations and specialist equipment.
  • Manage a complex caseload, working closely with contractors and specialist companies.
  • Support service users and their families to reduce risks and improve independence.
  • Contribute to risk management and reviews of completed works.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and produce professional reports.
  • Participate in audits, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold professional standards and council values, ensuring dignity, equality, and respect.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Level 1 (Apprenticeship route): Must meet the entry requirements set by the University of Huddersfield for the Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship. A passion for helping others and willingness to complete a 3-year degree apprenticeship. Awareness of community health/social care, disability concepts, safeguarding, and equality principles. Full driving licence and access to a car.
  • Level 2/3 (Qualified): BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy. HCPC registration. Full driving licence and access to a car. Strong knowledge of legislation (Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Human Rights Act), clinical governance, and housing standards. Experience managing complex cases and working collaboratively across teams.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Confidence in lone working and using supervision effectively.
  • Competence in IT systems and report writing.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

For Level 3: Ability to lead audits, mentor staff, and contribute to service development.
