Calderdale Council are looking to recruit a dynamic and talented Consultant in Public Health/ Public Health Medicine (registered as a Public Health Specialist with the General Medical Council, General Dental Council or UK Public Health Register). As a Senior Officer working at Assistant Director level, the postholder will play a key role in helping lead a hugely ambitious Council. Determined to ensure our work with communities is effective, we collaborate, innovate and adapt in a challenging environment to improve the health and wellbeing of residents.
Central to this are our two key strategic plans, the Wellbeing Strategy and the Inclusive Economy Strategy. The post holder will join a public health leadership team that is focused on delivering the ambitions set out in both strategies and provides leadership across the system. As a relatively small local authority, you will have opportunities to take place-based lead roles on programmes and will have direct access to Elected Members on a regular basis.
Calderdale's Public Health Team sits at the heart of the Council in the Chief Executive's Directorate and has a People and Places focus. It leads Calderdale's innovative Family Hubs and Active Calderdale Programmes. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to provide system leadership for health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities in Calderdale, with a particular focus on children and young people and health protection. Members of the team share a passion for community centred public health, addressing the core determinants of health inequalities and joining up health, care and wellbeing services to improve lives.
