We currently have an exciting opportunity for a part time Clinical Educator to join HMT's Learning & Development team, based primarily at St Hugh's Hospital in Grimsby. You'll play a central role in shaping and delivering education and training that makes a real difference to the quality of care our patients and residents receive. The successful candidate will draw on their clinical background and education expertise to identify learning needs, design and deliver evidence-based programmes, and support staff across HMT to be the best they can be. The role is advertised as approximately three days per week but we are keen to explore flexible options for the right candidate. The role is based primarily at St Hugh's Hospital in Grimsby, however travel to other HMT sites may be required from time to time to support the development of clinical skills and education across the wider portfolio.
Your responsibilities will span the full breadth of clinical education and workforce development, including:
- Designing and delivering high-quality, evidence-based training across clinical and non-clinical disciplines
- Developing educational materials for face-to-face, online and blended delivery, ensuring content remains current, regulatory-compliant and fit for purpose
- Owning HMT's statutory and mandatory training compliance, aligned to the L&D strategy and training matrix
- Supporting student placements, assessments and preceptorship, and developing the in-house Train the Trainer programme
- Acting as a professional guide and subject matter expert for managers and Heads of Department
- Maintaining training records and producing management reports on compliance KPIs
- Collaborating with colleagues across the L&D function to share knowledge and contribute to the continued growth of the team
- Building relationships with universities, colleges, NHS networks and the PIVO sector to enhance HMT's profile and access development funding
At St Hugh's Hospital we currently deliver a broad range of on-site clinical training. Our portfolio spans life support training at all levels from Basic and Immediate through to Advanced Life Support, through to clinical skills including venepuncture, peripheral cannulation, urinary catheterisation, IV additives, wound care and medication administration. We also deliver ECG recording and interpretation, vital signs recording and NEWS, pressure area care, moving and handling, diabetes management, infection prevention and control (ANTT/IPC), and the ALERT and BEACH programmes.
Essential Requirements
- Current NMC or HCPC registration
- Minimum two years' post-registration experience, ideally in an acute setting
- ILS qualification, or willingness to undertake immediately upon appointment
- Full, valid driving licence — travel to other HMT sites will be required
- Experience of teaching and creating effective learning environments
- Experience of designing and developing educational materials for face-to-face, online and blended delivery
- Knowledge of statutory and mandatory training requirements within a health or social care setting
- Knowledge of CQC inspection frameworks and evidence requirements in relation to workforce training and competency
- Demonstrable ability to work autonomously, manage a varied workload and exercise sound professional judgement without close supervision
