Position
Catering Assistant (Bank) at Sancta Maria Hospital, Swansea.
HMT is seeking a motivated individual passionate about care, innovation and service excellence to join our Catering team.
In this flexible bank role, you will provide a customer‑focused catering service across the hospital, adapting to varying shift demands and supporting the team during peak periods and staff absences.
Responsibilities
- Order patient meals and communicate dietary requirements with kitchen and nursing staff.
- Assist with meal service and all food and drink needs for ward patients.
- Maintain and replenish stock in ward kitchen and waiting areas, ensuring equipment is clean and well‑maintained.
- Use catering equipment safely and responsibly.
- Ensure all catering areas are cleaned following daily, weekly and monthly schedules.
- Comply with all legislation relating to food safety and management.
- Dispose of waste in accordance with HMT waste policy.
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene, completing all necessary paperwork.
- Contribute to a safe environment for patients and staff, observing health & safety, fire prevention, infection control, COSHH and HACCP.
Qualifications
- Good communication and customer care skills.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Presentable, approachable and flexible to changes in routine or work environment.
- Able to work independently, following policies and procedures and responding to changing circumstances.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Food Hygiene Qualifications
Required or preferred food hygiene qualifications as per HMT policy.
