Join Our Award-Winning Team at Longfield Care Home. Located on the outskirts of the village of Eglinton and just ten miles from the city of Derry, Longfield Care Home offers a welcoming environment with specialised care for residents across two units. We support 35 General Nursing residents in the Foyle and Faughan Units, alongside 11 Residential Dementia residents in the Moore Suite. The Role
The Senior Care Assistant role in our Homes is part of a dedicated team essential to the daily operations of the Home. In our Residential Homes and units, this is a leadership role, working closely with the care team to lead on shifts and manage medication. Senior Care Assistants provide high quality care and support to residents in a warm and safe environment. They lead, guide and provide hands-on assistance to ensure residents receive personalised care that meets their individual needs and preferences. Senior Care Assistants also provide emotional support and companionship, fostering meaningful relationships and advocating for the rights and preferences of our residents.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to residents with activities of daily living, including personal care and mobility, in accordance with individual care plans and resident preferences.
- Observe and monitor the wellbeing of residents, promptly referring any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences to senior staff or the primary nurse and documenting as appropriate.
- Monitor and allocate work for care assistants.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with residents, colleagues and visitors; respond promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
- Take responsibility for the administration and management of medication, medication audits and storage in line with regulatory requirements.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Home Manager.

Requirements
Required Criteria:
- Medications experience within care setting
- The Right to Work in the UK
- Educated to a minimum GCSE/NVQ 3 or above (or similar qualification) with a good standard of English
- Previous Care Experience

- Experience supervising staff
