Overview
Senior Care Assistant – Residential at Healthcare Ireland Group. Location: Longfield Care Home, on the outskirts of Eglinton, near Derry. We support 35 General Nursing residents in the Foyle and Faughan Units and 11 Residential Dementia residents in the Moore Suite.

The Role
The Senior Care Assistant role is a leadership position within our Residential Homes and units. You will work closely with the care team to lead on shifts and manage medication, providing high quality, person-centred care in a warm and safe environment. You will provide leadership, guidance and hands-on assistance to ensure residents receive personalised care that meets their individual needs and preferences, and you will offer emotional support and companionship to residents.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support to residents with activities of daily living, including personal care and mobility, in line with individual care plans and resident preferences.
- Observe and monitor residents wellbeing; promptly refer any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences to senior staff or the primary nurse and document appropriately.
- Monitor and allocate the work for care assistants.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with residents, colleagues and visitors; respond promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
- Administer and manage medication, conduct medication audits and storage in line with regulatory requirements.
- Undertake other duties reasonably required by the Home Manager.

- Medications experience within a care setting
- The right to work in the UK
- Educated to a minimum GCSE/NVQ 3 or above (or similar qualification) with a good standard of English
- Previous care experience
