The role of Regional Manager is vital in supporting the invaluable work that each Home undertakes. This role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across a group of Homes within a defined region. This is a pivotal role, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care, regulatory compliance, and business performance across multiple sites. As Regional Manager, you will have direct line management responsibility for Home Managers, providing them with regular support, supervision, and performance management. You will play a key role in developing and mentoring home leadership teams, ensuring they are empowered to deliver safe, person-centred care while meeting organisational and regulatory expectations. Working closely with Home Managers and the senior leadership team, you will drive continuous improvement, support service development, manage risk and lead a culture of excellence, compassion, and accountability. The role of Regional Manager requires a dynamic, results-driven, and values-led leader with a strong background in care home management and multi-site operational oversight. A nursing qualification is essential for this role, along with at least 5 years experience as a Registered Nurse and a minimum of two years previous experience in a Regional Role.

About The Role

  • Leadership & Operational Oversight
    • Provide strategic leadership and direction to Home Managers across the designated region.
    • Ensure consistent operational performance aligned with organisational goals and values.
    • Act as a role model, promoting a culture of excellence, accountability, and compassionate care.
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Monitor and support care quality standards in line with regulatory requirements.
    • Lead and support preparation for regulatory inspections, ensuring readiness and compliance.
    • Analyse audit outcomes and implement corrective actions where needed.
  • Performance Management
    • Oversee business and financial performance across Homes, identifying and addressing any shortfalls.
    • Monitor KPIs including occupancy, staffing levels, and service user outcomes.
    • Support Home Managers in meeting targets and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Service Improvement & Innovation
    • Lead and deliver continuous improvement programmes across the region.
    • Identify best practices and facilitate their implementation across multiple sites.
    • Manage and deliver service transformation projects as required.
  • Team Development & Support
    • Support, mentor, and develop Home Managers to ensure strong and capable leadership at the home level.
    • Facilitate succession planning and leadership development within the region.
    • Ensure adequate staffing, skill mix, and workforce planning across Homes.
  • Safeguarding & Risk Management
    • Take a proactive approach to safeguarding residents, team, and visitors.
    • Identify and mitigate risks across clinical, operational, and business areas.
    • Investigate incidents and complaints, ensuring thorough resolution and learning.
  • Communication & Collaboration
    • Maintain regular communication with Home Managers, senior leadership, and other key stakeholders.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, commissioners, and local partners.
    • Represent the organisation at external meetings, inspections, and forums.
  • Cover & Crisis Management
    • Provide interim Home Manager cover when required, ensuring stability and continuity of care.
    • Respond to operational emergencies and support crisis resolution across homes.
  • Reporting & Governance
    • Produce regular reports for the senior leadership team on performance, risks, and improvement actions.
    • Participate in governance meetings, contributing insight from the regional perspective.
  • Values-Based Leadership
    • Uphold and promote the core values of the organisation in all aspects of the role.
    • Foster a resident-centred approach in all decision-making.

Required Criteria

  • Right to work in the UK
  • A Registered Nurse with active NMC registration, and a minimum of 5 years post-registration
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a regional position
  • A sound working knowledge of the statutory requirements associated with care
  • A good understanding of budgets is desirable
  • Understanding of the key business activities associated with a care home
  • Be able to demonstrate strong leadership ability in a key, demanding role
  • Strong communication skills
