Join the Team at Glenabbey Manor, a friendly, safe and welcoming residential and dementia care home, with provision for up to 76 residents. Our residents are encouraged to enjoy as much of an independent lifestyle as possible, with the assurance of a compassionate, kind and professional care team, always on hand to support individuals' daily care needs and wishes.

The Laundry Assistant contributes to the wellbeing and quality of life of our residents, collaborating with the care and domestic team to ensure clothing, bedding and other textiles are clean, tidy and available to residents as required. Laundry Assistants are vital to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, iron and store linens, clothing and other textiles according to the Home procedures and schedules.
  • Ensure that the laundry area is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Support the care team with the tidying and storage of clothing, bedding, towels and textiles.
  • Restock and replenish laundry supplies, monitoring stock levels and reporting any shortages.
  • Ensure work processes comply with quality and statutory regulations, as well as operational standards and infection prevention and control.
  • Inspect linen and clothing for stains, tears and damage and report as required to maintain quality standards.
  • Assist with the collection, distribution, and inventory of resident clothing and personal items, ensuring accuracy in handling resident belongings.
  • Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Home Manager or Housekeeper.
