Overview

The Home Slemish Nursing Home, located at the edge of Ballymena, has a long-standing reputation for delivering excellent Nursing Care in a homely, friendly, professional environment. The bed capacity is 37 and will extend to 63 beds with the extension. The Open House policy supports welcoming families and friends to visit any time.

The Role

The Kitchen Assistants in our home play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, delivering high quality meals and dining experiences. The role is essential to the wellbeing of residents through high-quality, person-centred dining experiences. Working as part of the Kitchen team and reporting to the Chef, the role involves more than preparing and serving meals; the Kitchen Assistant will support with meeting residents\\\’ dietary needs and contributing to a safe and positive working environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all catering stock and equipment is correctly stored and accounted for in accordance with the company\\\’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers meals and other catering supplies to various areas within the unit in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Under direction, assists with the basic preparation of food items.
  • Ensures all cleaning within the kitchen, catering and servery areas is completed and complies with the company\\\’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers and maintains a clean and tidy environment throughout the home, in line with operational standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required as designated by the Chef or Cook.

Required Criteria

  • The Right to Work in the UK
  • A good standard of both verbal and written English
  • Previous catering, kitchen or food preparation experience
  • Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
