The Home Sir Samuel Kelly Residential Home is situated 5 miles outside Belfast in the town of Holywood. It is located in 2-3 acres of woodland and landscaped gardens. A local family gifted the home to The Salvation Army in the 1960s. Since then, it has been used for the care of older people, providing accommodation for 56 residents aged over 65. The upstairs is designed as a dementia suite for 30 residents, while downstairs is for older people who do not have a diagnosis of dementia but require care. We have access to a local adjoining park.
The Role
30 hours per week - 8.30am - 7pm x 3 days. At Healthcare Ireland, our Housekeeper role is essential in our mission to provide excellent care. Responsible for the environment of the Home, the Housekeeper leads the domestic and laundry teams in contributing to the wellbeing and quality of life of our residents. The Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring that the Home is clean, tidy and welcoming at all times. The Housekeeper works closely with the Home Manager, care teams and residents, building trusting relationships to create a comfortable environment where our residents feel safe and cared for.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee and perform a variety of tasks throughout the Home, including vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, cleaning surfaces in resident rooms, communal areas and offices; adhering to cleaning and laundry schedules as required.
- Manage the domestic team to guarantee that all areas of the Home, including bathrooms, kitchens, dining areas and hallways, are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Adhere to the cleaning and auditing schedule.
