The Home

Join Our Award-Winning Team at Longfield Care Home. Located on the outskirts of the village of Eglinton and just ten miles from the city of Derry, Longfield Care Home offers a welcoming environment with specialised care for residents across two units. We support 35 General Nursing residents in the Foyle and Faughan Units, alongside 11 Residential Dementia residents in the Moore Suite. Our commitment to excellence was recognised at the 2024 Staff Nursing Awards, where our Home Manager received a Highly Commended for Home Manager of the Year, and our Team Leader won Care Assistant of the Year. The Role

You will provide high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, fostering a welcoming environment where residents are treated with respect and dignity, and staff feel valued and supported. As part of our frontline team, you will assist with activities of daily living to ensure the wellbeing and comfort of residents. You will also provide emotional support and companionship, fostering meaningful relationships and advocating for the rights and preferences of our residents. This is a night duty role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, helping them maintain a good quality of life.
  • Help residents maintain independence where possible, encouraging involvement in activities.
  • Assist with moving and handling residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents\’ well-being and reporting any changes in their health or behaviour.
  • Follow care plans tailored to individual residents\’ needs, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for residents.

Requirements (Required Criteria)

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A good standard of oral and written English.
  • A non-judgemental approach to others.
  • Excellent communication skills with the compassion required to deliver high-quality care to our residents.
  • Respectful to residents and the values and beliefs of other team members.

Desirable Criteria

  • Educated to QCF/NVQ Level 2 is desirable, but not essential.
  • Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.
