The Home

Be Part of the Team at Slemish Nursing Home, located on the outskirts of Ballymena and just a short walk from local churches and shops. Slemish Nursing Home has been providing trusted care to the community for over 35 years. Known for its homely and professional environment, the home is led by an experienced Manager with over two decades of service in the care sector. Our dedicated team is proud to offer high-quality Nursing Care, with specialist support in Palliative Care, End of Life Care, and Physical Disability Care services that are highly respected and valued within the local community.

With the completion of our brand-new extension, Slemish Nursing Home will soon accommodate up to 63 residents, providing even more opportunities to deliver exceptional, person-centred care. We operate with an Open House policy, welcoming families and friends at any time, helping to create a genuine sense of home and belonging for all who walk through our doors.

The Role

  • You will pride yourself on providing high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, fostering a welcoming environment where residents are treated with respect and dignity, and staff feel valued and supported.
  • As part of our frontline team, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Home, assisting with activities of daily living ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of residents.
  • As a Care Assistant, you will also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion.
  • Help residents maintain independence where possible, encouraging involvement in activities.
  • Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents' well-being and reporting any changes in their health or behaviour.
  • Follow care plans tailored to individual residents' needs, ensuring their comfort and safety.

A good standard of oral and written English. Excellent communication skills with the compassion required to deliver high-quality care to our residents.

Desired Criteria

  • Educated to QCF/ NVQ Level 2 is desirable, but not essential.
  • Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.
