Join the Team at Chestnut Lodge Care Home, nestled in the peaceful countryside just a mile from the charming village of Benburb in County Tyrone. Chestnut Lodge Care Home offers a warm and supportive environment for up to 40 residents. We specialise in Dementia Nursing, General Nursing, and Physical Disability care, providing both short-term respite and long-term care services.

The Role

The Kitchen Assistants in our Homes play a key role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our kitchens, ensuring that residents receive high quality meals and dining experiences. The role is essential to the wellbeing of our residents through the provision of high-quality, person-centred dining experiences. Working as part of the Kitchen team, reporting to the Chef, the role is about a lot more than preparing and serving meals; the Kitchen Assistant will support with ensuring the dietary needs of our residents are met in addition to contributing to a safe and positive working environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all catering stock and equipment is correctly stored and accounted for in accordance with the company’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers meals and other catering supplies to various areas within the unit in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Under direction, assists with the basic preparation of food items.
  • Ensures all cleaning within the kitchen, catering and servery areas (as appropriate) is completed and complies with the company’s Assured Safe Catering standards.
  • Delivers and maintains a clean and tidy environment throughout the home, in line with operational standards and ensures that work processes comply with statutory regulations.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required as designated by the Chef or Cook.
