Do you have a passion for helping others and a desire to make a positive impact in the lives of older residents? The Home, Madelayne Court, is situated in a lovely residential area within the picturesque town of Portstewart, on the stunning North Antrim coast. This safe and spacious setting provides professional, person-centred care for up to 66 people, specialising in residential, dementia and nursing care for those over the age of 65.

Not only does our 24-hour care and nursing team provide kind and compassionate, individualised care, we also offer good company and helpful support, in a calm and restful atmosphere. Residents feel safe, comfortable and part of a relaxed community at Madelayne Court. All our private, light and spacious bedrooms are fully-furnished and have the benefit of en-suite bathroom facilities. Residents are very welcome to bring their own home accessories and furniture, to personalise their space with their own familiar items to make it their home.

The home also has excellent amenities, all fully designed to cater for people living with dementia, including a café, comfortable lounges and dining spaces, enabling residents to maintain their independence within the safest possible environment.

The Role

You will pride yourself on providing high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, fostering a welcoming environment where residents are treated with respect and dignity, and staff feel valued and supported. As part of our frontline team, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Home, assisting with activities of daily living ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of residents. As a Care Assistant, you will also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion; an advocacy for the rights and preferences of our residents.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, helping them maintain a good quality of life.
  • Help residents maintain independence where possible, encouraging involvement in activities.
  • Assist with moving and handling residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents' well-being and reporting any changes in their health or behaviour.
  • Follow care plans tailored to individual residents' needs, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for residents.

Required Criteria

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A good standard of oral and written English.
  • A non-judgemental approach to others.
  • Excellent communication skills with the compassion required to deliver high-quality care to our residents.
  • Respectful to not only residents but the values and beliefs of other team members.

Desired Criteria

  • Educated to QCF/ NVQ Level 2 is desirable, but not essential.
  • Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.
