Healthcare Business International covers healthcare investing across Europe and beyond, providing exclusive actionable business insights about investing in healthcare through data, analysis, and news. We also bring together the community of healthcare providers, investors, advisors, and suppliers in-person at our annual conference. Our goals are to inform and connect our customers so that they can make effective investment and strategy decisions in healthcare. HBI focuses on covering investments made by Private Equity, Property & Infrastructure Investors, Family Offices, and Sovereign Wealth Funds. With strong roots in healthcare services, our core beats remain Hospitals and Care groups, Diagnostics, and Outpatient services. This is an exciting time to join the editorial team as we are now branching out to cover investments made in adjacent areas of Healthcare IT and Life Sciences.

This is a great opportunity for a journalist with previous B2B media experience to join an ambitious and growing business. As a journalist at HBI, your core purpose will be to write about healthcare investing, predominantly covering EMEA markets. Reporting M&A activity and deal valuations is a core activity. The successful candidate will join a team that takes pride in writing news stories which are actionable by subscribers. Unique value is added to news by reporting it through the lens of what each change in the market means to those who are investing in or running healthcare businesses. Journalists write about the likely impact to the sector of developments such as: new investment trends, internationalization, government legislation, new business models, the macro-economic climate, and the evolution of digital technology.

Strong writing skills are a prerequisite for this role. The confidence to connect and talk to sources on and off the record is essential. Numeracy is very important too because the role requires reporters to regularly incorporate financial information into stories. This role is likely to suit someone with innate curiosity, high energy levels, and an insatiable desire for learning. In return, we offer career development opportunities, competitive salary, private health plan, travel insurance, ongoing coaching and training, and access to people and companies who are shaping the future of healthcare and investing.

Qualifications:

  • Journalistic qualification or close equivalent required.
  • Previous experience writing business news, interviews, reports, blogs, etc.
  • Ability to form and maintain close relationships with sources and contacts.
  • Confidence to moderate or interview at both in-person and digital events.
  • Pre-existing understanding of M&A activity, investment strategies, and business models is not a prerequisite for this role but it is advantageous because all of these will need to be learned.
  • Knowledge of international healthcare business trends and markets is a plus.

HBI has a Hybrid Working Policy by which we work together at our office in Finsbury Park on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. To be considered for this role candidates need to be able to commit to this arrangement.
