About HBHR
HBHR is an AI-native HR and payroll SaaS platform serving businesses of 200–5,000 employees. Our platform spans HRIS, Payroll, Workforce Management, ATS, Performance Management and LMS — with proof points like cutting payroll processing from three weeks to one day. We're scaling fast, and public and private sector tenders are an increasingly significant route to market.
The Role
This is a founding hire. You'll be the first dedicated bid professional in the business, with a mandate to build the bid function from the ground up — the process, the content library, the tooling, and ultimately the team. You'll own the full bid lifecycle: qualification, planning, writing, submission and post-bid review, working directly with the CRO, sales team and subject matter experts across the business.
In the near term you'll be hands-on, personally leading and writing major RFP, ITT and PQQ responses. As win rates and deal flow justify it, you'll hire and lead a team of bid writers and coordinators.
What You'll Do
- Design and embed a bid/no-bid qualification framework and end-to-end bid process
- Lead and write high-quality responses to RFPs, ITTs, PQQs and framework applications (including public sector frameworks such as G-Cloud and CCS)
- Build and maintain a central content library of reusable, up-to-date bid collateral (security, data protection, implementation, SLAs, case studies)
- Manage bid timelines, stakeholders and sign-off across sales, legal, product, implementation and CS
- Run post-bid reviews and feedback loops to continuously improve win rates
- Select and implement bid management tooling
- Build the business case for, then recruit and lead, a growing bid team
- Report on bid pipeline, win rates and conversion to the CRO
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience managing and winning bids in the Workforce Management / HR tech / payroll software space — you understand the buyer, the competitive landscape, and the evaluation criteria in this market
- Track record of leading complex, multi-stakeholder bids end-to-end, including £250k+ contract values
- Excellent bid writing skills — able to translate technical and commercial detail into compelling, compliant responses
- Experience building or significantly maturing a bid function (process, content, tooling)
- Proven experience sourcing, qualifying and submitting bids through public sector tender portals such as Find a Tender, G-Cloud / Digital Marketplace and CCS frameworks, including managing portal registrations, clarifications and compliant submissions
- Familiarity with wider public sector procurement requirements (social value, evaluation methodology, standstill periods)
- APMP certification (Foundation or Practitioner)
- Experience in a scaling SaaS business
- Line management experience or clear readiness to build and lead a team
- Working knowledge of information security and data protection questionnaires (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, GDPR)
Why Join
- Founding role with genuine ownership — you build this function your way
- Direct line to the CRO and visibility across the commercial leadership team
- Fast-growing AI-native platform with strong product proof points and an expanding product suite
- Competitive salary + bonus tied to bid win rates
