You will be caring for a gentleman who lives at home in Bolton with his wife and two grown-up daughters. He is non-verbal and completely paralysed, so complex care experience would be an advantage.
2–3 times per year, we like to take a break at a holiday cottage in Hambleton, Lancashire, where you would be expected to cover your regular shifts that week, with fuel expenses paid for you to return home each day.
We need punctual, reliable individuals who can show and use their own initiative, sometimes working alone or as part of a team. You must be a good communicator and have a can-do attitude, and it is even better if you have a great sense of humour and a love of sport.
It is beneficial but not essential that you hold a full and clean driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, due to the location of the workplace and shift patterns, and have at least 3 months of care experience in the UK. Experience with complex care interventions like tracheostomy, PEG care, and communication issues is also beneficial, as well as familiarity with moving and handling equipment.
If you think you have the special characteristics for this caring and rewarding role, supporting someone to fulfil their independence, please apply now! We would love to hear from you and discuss this opportunity in more detail. If you have any questions, please do get in touch.
You will receive:
- £14.44 per hour day rate and £15.59 per hour night rate, with an enhanced bank holiday rate of £18.75 per hour
- A pension if eligible
- 5.6 weeks annual leave per year pro rata

We can offer day shifts (usually covering the hours 8.00 am – 6.00 pm) and night shifts (usually covering the hours 9.00 pm – 8.00 am). We currently have two roles: 20 hours per week working 2 × 10-hour day shifts or 30 hours per week working 3 × 10-hour night shifts. Actual days of work and shift hours can be discussed at the interview stage and negotiated for the right candidates.
You will be expected to work weekends on a rota basis, and there is the opportunity to work additional hours on occasions in relation to holidays and sickness. We do not offer sponsorship.
