What you will do

  • Fulfil the statutory duties of the Independent Reviewing Officer in accordance with the Care Planning Regulations and IRO Handbook.
  • Chair Looked After Children (LAC) Reviews, ensuring plans are outcome-focused, timely, and centred on the child's needs and wishes.
  • Monitor the implementation of care plans, identify drift, delay, or unmet needs, and ensure appropriate escalation where required.
  • Ensure children and young people are fully involved in review processes and that their views are recorded, represented, and acted upon.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development relevant to children's social care and safeguarding.

Experience

  • Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care.
  • Experience of working with looked after children, child protection, and safeguarding processes.
