Our core laboratory is based at The Halo Building in London with expanding sites in Manchester and other hospital-based laboratories. We maintain high standards of quality and invest in infrastructure and IT while supporting workforce development.

About the role
A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Biomedical Scientist (BMS) in the Essential Services Laboratory (ESL) at Lister Hospital following a new Pathology and Phlebotomy services programme. The ESL provides 24/7 routine biochemistry testing for acute and urgent care areas, plus some onsite testing for the local community. The successful candidate will join a team delivering a high-quality pathology service. The Biochemistry department performs a wide range of investigations using automated instrumentation including automated clinical biochemistry, osmometry, HbA1c testing by HPLC, and various manual methods. The laboratory operates a 24/7 service; the successful candidate will be required to participate in shifts to cover this timeframe where appropriate.
Qualifications • Suitable approved undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science (or equivalent) • HCPC registered. • Previous hospital laboratory experience is helpful; full training will be provided for all work performed.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 routine biochemistry testing for acute and urgent care areas and on-site testing for the local community.
- Work with the ESL team of biomedical scientists and associate practitioners to deliver a high-quality pathology service.
- Operate advanced instrumentation for automated biochemistry, osmometry, HbA1c testing by HPLC and various manual methods.
- Be committed to service excellence and ongoing personal and professional development.
- Participate in all shifts required to cover the 24/7 service.
