Biomedical Scientist (Bank - Night Shift), Haematology - North Middlesex University Hospital, London
Location: North Middlesex University Hospital, Sterling Way, London, N18 1QX
Contract / Hours: Bank Contract, 0 hours
Salary range: Up to £38.53 per hour DOE inclusive of enhanced rate for working night shift
About the role: The opportunity has arisen for a qualified HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist wishing to undertake out-of-hours shifts within the Haematology and Blood Transfusion Laboratory at North Middlesex University Hospital. This role will cover routine shifts (as and when required/possible), mostly covering weekend/overnight shifts.
The ideal candidate will contribute to providing a professional and technical laboratory service working effectively as a team member as part of the overall department and to work independently performing routine analyses with support as required from senior Biomedical Scientists.
Haematology duties include:
- Running the Sysmex XN track
- Sysmex CS analysers
- Tosoh G11 analysers
- Interrliner and RS analysers
- Bio-Rad Variant II
- Morphology
- Maintaining TATs for A&E and other urgent areas
Blood Transfusion duties will include:
- Automated grouping
- Antibody investigation
- Cross-matching
- NHSBT referrals
- Providing blood component support for Major Haemorrhages
In addition, the post holder will ensure compliance with health and safety; training and development; and all quality aspects of the laboratory (including but not limited to EQAs, audits and incident reporting).
