About the role
We have an exciting vacancy for a Medical Laboratory Assistant in Biochemistry at the UCLH Rapid Response Laboratory at 60 Whitfield Street. The Biochemistry department provides a variety of investigations using Cobas 8000 analysers, a Cobas 8100 pre-analytical system and an Osmo1 Osmometer to test for a wide range of Biochemistry based tests. These range from routine chemistry and immunoassay processing to more specific and specialised tests including methotrexate and pre-eclampsia screenings. The department is in the Rapid Response Laboratory for the University College London Hospital (UCLH) and is part of the Health Services Partnership between The Doctors Laboratory (TDL), Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and UCLH which provides pathology services to a number of NHS Trusts and their customers.

Responsibilities
- Perform biochemical analyses and routine chemistry and immunoassay processing as part of the Biochemistry department.
- Operate instrumentation including Cobas 8000 analysers, Cobas 8100 pre-analytical system and Osmo1 Osmometer.
- Prepare, process and handle samples in accordance with standard operating procedures and quality control requirements.
- Support timely reporting of results and contribute to ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with additional tests and specialised assays as required by the department.
