About the role
This position is based in the constitutional cytogenetics section, which processes over 10,000 samples a year. The primary responsibilities include karyotyping, FISH and microarray analysis on a variety of sample types (post‑natal and fetal bloods, amniocentesis, CVS, and products of conception). The candidate will support a hybrid working model, with full‑time or part‑time arrangements. A strong background in cytogenomics and familiarity with cytogenetic techniques and analysis is essential, as are good interpersonal and troubleshooting skills.
Qualifications & Experience
Applicants should be a Registered Clinical Scientist (Senior Cytogeneticist – band 7 equivalent) or a scientist working towards HCPC registration (Cytogeneticist – band 6 equivalent). Relevant experience, HCPC registration status, and a sound understanding of cytogenetic procedures are required.
