About the role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to work in pathology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow. The post holder will initially work core hours whilst in training but will be required, once trained and competent, to work as part of a 24/7 service shift rota. Shift patterns consist of core shifts, night shifts, along with weekend and bank holidays to work within any section of the department.
Working as part of a team, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and experience in an automated clinical Haematology Department. Combined, the departments incorporate routine Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Coagulation, and blood film morphology service.
The ideal candidate will contribute to providing a professional and technical laboratory service, working effectively as a team member as part of the overall department and to work independently performing routine analysis with support as required from senior Biomedical Scientists.
Duties include:
- Performance of Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion tests accurately and efficiently
- Reporting blood film morphology
- Cross-matching
- Quality assurance procedures and quality management related tasks
The successful candidate will join our team of dedicated biomedical scientists and associate practitioners in delivering a high-quality pathology service.
