About the Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced HCPC‑registered Biomedical Scientist to work in Blood Transfusion and Haematology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow. The post holder will initially work core hours whilst in training, however once trained and competent, will be part of a 24/7 service shift rota. The shift patterns will consist of core shifts, night shifts, along with weekend and bank holidays to work within any section of the department, as allocated by the Laboratory manager.
The ideal candidate will contribute to providing a professional and technical laboratory service, working effectively as a team member as part of the overall department and to work independently performing routine analysis with support as required from senior Biomedical Scientists. Duties include:
- Performance of Blood Transfusion, Haematology and Coagulation tests accurately and efficiently
- Reporting blood film morphology
- Cross‑matching
- Antibody identification
- Quality assurance procedures and quality management related tasks
The successful candidate will join our team of dedicated biomedical scientists and associate practitioners in delivering a high‑quality pathology service.
