About the role: A full-time experienced Biomedical Scientist will work in the multidisciplinary laboratory at The Priory Hospital. A background in Haematology and Blood Transfusion is essential. The role involves working alongside laboratory team members and undertaking biochemistry, haematology and blood transfusion investigations, providing a 24/7 service. Tests are carried out on blood samples unsupervised, aligned with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and local SOPs. The post holder works with autonomy under the overall responsibility of the laboratory manager.
Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require that Employees filling certain roles need, as part of their on-boarding, to complete a DBS Check. This role falls into the category of requiring a DBS check (standard).
Responsibilities:
- Performs routine testing and specialist investigations in biochemistry and haematology
- Provides safe and reliable results as well as compatible blood components and products for transfusion patients
- Works under Good Manufacturing Practice and local SOPs, unsupervised on blood samples
- Cooperates with laboratory manager and team to deliver 24/7 laboratory service
Qualifications & Experience:
- IBMS-accredited Biological Sciences degree or equivalent experience
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion
