About the Role

In this role you will encounter a wide range of interesting cases on a daily basis, running the routine section in Haematology with exciting blood film morphology, and fully engaging with special requirement crossmatching in the Blood Transfusion Department. The post holder will be part of a team responsible for the 24/7 running of the routine Haematology & Blood Transfusion section and will have opportunities for further development, with responsibilities for quality and training dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Run the routine Haematology section and blood film morphology.
  • Engage with crossmatching and support the busy trust’s Blood Transfusion needs.
  • Work 37.5 hours per week across a 24/7 shift, participating fully on the roster for all contractual weekend and late evening shifts.
  • Introduce new methodologies and technologies to maintain a service of the highest standard.

Qualifications

  • HCPC Registered with an accredited Biomedical Science Degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years post‑registration experience.
  • Essential experience working in a Haematology and Blood Transfusion Laboratory.
