About the role: There is an exciting opportunity within the Health Services Laboratories for an experienced HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Biochemistry Department at the Royal Free Hospital Hampstead site on a Bank Contract. Unfortunately, this is not a training role and experienced band 6 BMS staff only will be considered.
The post holder will work with a team of staff in the department with responsibility for providing a comprehensive, high quality Biochemistry service to all service users at the Royal Free Hospital. They will need to demonstrate specialist knowledge in Biochemistry and have experience in the day to day running of the laboratory. Likewise, you must be able to show effective leadership and communication skills and be able to manage junior staff in a positive and efficient manner.
If successful, you will also be responsible for helping to maintain UKAS ISO 15189:2022 by participating in all aspects of the quality management system. Royal Free Hospital site hosts a big renal and transplant service and any prior experience of supporting such complex services would be advantageous.
You must be keen to embrace new ways of working and develop your knowledge and skills and help develop others. In addition to these requirements, you will be expected to participate in the shift rota, working 37.5 hours and covering shifts spanning the 24/7 working week, once competency has been achieved.
The post holder will have opportunities for further development, with responsibilities for quality and training dependent on experience. The department has an excellent training programme to develop staff to realise their potential and career advancement.
